April 2015 - Case History - Kakooza Ibra
Kakooza is only 18 months old. He was admitted in Acheru on 2nd February 2015 presenting with post burns contractures on the right hand. He was burnt as a result of boiling porridge spilling onto his hand in December 2014 and was initially managed in a local clinic. However as he healed he was left with contractures in the right finger joints.
At Acheru Kakooza was assessed and examined. As a result he was scheduled for a specialist plastic clinic at CoRSU. Following an X-ray of the hand and fingers Kakooza was sent for surgery on 24th February where he had a contracture release operation to allow freedom of movement in his fingers.
Kakooza returned to Acheru for rehabilitation where he received wound cleaning and dressing, medication and physiotherapy. He continues to have regular reviews in plastic clinics at CoRSU.
Currently he is doing well and has been discharged from Acheru and has returned home. He is to be reviewed on 16th June 2015 in plastic clinic at CoRSU.
